Go Canada!!!

Hidy-ho Boult Blog buddy!  Thanks for stopping by themixbc.com!

It's been a little while since my last entry and I apologize for that.  I've been thoroughly distracted by the Olympic Games!

I have to say I've been super impressed with the Olympics so far.  The entertainment value has been second to none.  It's true that our medal total isn't as high as we expected but it's important to continue to support the guys and gals who are out there giving it their all.  It's great to see everyone supporting each event.  Yes hockey is number 1 in Canada (despite what the score may be) but we seem to be just as crazy about speed skating or ice dancing as the game ‘o puck.

The stories behind the athletes make the events more interesting.  Alexandre Bilodough's Gold medal run in men's moguls last week was powerful.  Not just because he was the first athlete to win gold on Canadian turf, but because of what he and his family have been through together.  The struggles that they endured became an integral part in his victory.  He had more than a nation behind him.  Everyone was elated but no one more than his brother.  Seeing those images make even the coldest hearts heat up a little.

You can say what you want about the politics behind the Olympics.  Lots of folks have opposing views to many of the issues that came up (and will continue to come up) surrounding the games.  But you have to admit it's been fun getting caught up in all things Canada over the past couple weeks.  As a nation we don't celebrate "being Canadian" enough and we've really done it up right as of late.  Keep it up.  Go Canada go!!!!

Don't forget to bring that same Canadian enthusiasm to the BC Winter Games coming up in Terrace March 4th-7th.  These are our Canadian Olympic athletes of the future.
Listen to the Mix for all the latest on the Olympics and the BC Winter Games coming up!!!

When he's not visiting Bert's Deli or stealing pens from work, Ryan is beating on people who wear socks with their sandals and dreaming of meeting Red Green one day. The rest of the time he's on the radio.
