A run-of-river project southwest of Terrace is among 19 around the province that B.C. Hydro plans to award electricity purchase agreements.

The utility announced the latest conclusions from its Clean Power Call today.

The Dasque Middle Creek power project proposed by Swift Power is one of the smaller ones.

The plan would divert water from portions of Dasque Creek and Middle Creek to produce electricity.

Swift Power signed a memorandum with the Kitselas Band a year ago dealing with consultations and benefits from the project.

Not on today's list of B.C. Hydro's picks is Naikun's huge offshore wind farm proposal in Hecate Strait.

However, it is among 28 projects still under consideration by B-C Hydro.

In a statement to investors, Naikun Wind says the values and unique attributes of its project provide a compelling case for its inclusion in Hydro's second round of contract awards.

The 19 winners in this round together are expected to produce enough electricity to supply about 200-thousand homes.
Last year, the B.C. Utilities Commission rejected B.C. Hydro's clean power plans over costs and questions about demand, however, the utility is pressing forward with support from the Campbell government.
