Terrace Woman Organizes Fund For Her Native Chile
The catastrophe in Chile, caused by Saturday's massive earthquake and the resulting tsunami, has touched a Terrace woman personally. Angelica Powell is from that South American country, and her family is still there. So she and her husband Michael are organizing a local fund-raising effort to help.
She told us yesterday just getting information on her own family has been a nightmare. "There's been a network of help, but no possible penetration at the main area where my family was, my sons and my two grandchildren, but luckily we got good news --- they're good! They're alive that's the main thing"
Powell says she's confident Terrace residents will help out, as they did for victims of Haiti's earthquake and the devastating Indian Ocean tsunami of a few years ago.
"Terrace people is good people," she said, "and I'm confident they know hard times, because we all our somewhere else, and we come in here to work, like anybody else, but it is needed, they are there."
The trust account (Number 7177454) is at the Northern Savings Credit Union.
