Kitimat Wins, Mixed Day For Terrace/Burns Lake Teams at Hockey Provincials

The Kitimat Bantams opened with a thriller, at the Tier Two provincial championships in Williams Lake. Ryan Forbes scored with 4.1 seconds left on the clock as Kitimat edged Prince George 5-4 yesterday. Kitimat's next game is this morning at 11 against Burnaby.

In other tournaments, it was a rough day for the northwest teams. In Castlegar, the Terrace Bantams doubled New Westminster 8-4, but then lost to Castlegar 4-0 last night, to drop to 2-and-1. They play Dawson Creek this afernoon at 3:30.

At the Midget Tier-4 provincials in Burns Lake, the host team came back from a 5-0 deficit against Golden, but just fell short of tying the game, losing 5-4. Houston was beaten by Chase 6-4, but then dumped Surrey 7-4.  Action continues today at the Tom Forsyth Arena.

In Victoria, the Terrace Midgets lost 4-1 to Rossland-Trail, then were blanked 3-0 by New Westminster. Terrace is now 1-and-2, and plays Kerry Park at 1pm today.

The Terrace Peewees split their two games yesterday at the provincials in Winfield. After downing Fort St John 3-1 in the morning game, Terrace lost 7-6 to Kelowna in the evening, to drop to 1-and-2. Terrace plays Castlegar today at 1.

And the Burns Lake Peewees split their two games in Clearwater yesterday. Dawson Bjorgan scored twice lifting Burns Lake past the host team 3-2, after losing earlier in the day 4-2 to Vancouver Arbutus. Burns Lake is 2-and-1. They play Lumby today at 2.
